It's Halloween time...one of my favorite times of year. I started pulling out from storage all my decorations and taking stock of what new things need to be added. Which led to a trip to Michael's Craft Store. Between Michaels and the Dollar Store combined with imagination, paint and glue you can transform anything into a vintage inspired decoration. These are some of my finds from the weekend...before they're transformed.

Driving down the road last week in Ft. Lauderdale, I stumbled upon these two tables left out for trash day....just screaming for a new life. I plan on glaming them up with lots of paint and texture giving them their new Florida Beach Chic look. I just finished the brown table on the left...soon I'll be posting the after pics...

The weather in South Florida is very often hot and humid and plain water can be just that....plain. I started adding fresh mint and cucumber to a pitcher of water to add a refreshing twist. It's so simple and refreshing I feel like I'm at a spa. To mix it up I'll add limes, lemons, raspberries, lemongrass, you name it.I like to gather a variety of different carafes and bottles, you can pull from
what you have or check out flea markets and antique stores. Let the infusion sit for an hour or so.
It's so simple and expensive. I like to make different varieties for a party and place the collection of infused
waters in the center of my table along with some whole fruit. This
creates a beautiful, functional, and inexpensive centerpiece.
The How To...
Cut a clean, unwaxed small cucumber, I like to use English cucumbers, into slices. Place cucumber and a handful of mint leaves in a large
pitcher. Fill pitcher with water. Cover and chill several hours or up
to 3 days. Strain mixture; discard solids. Pour water into tall glasses
over ice. If desired, garnish with additional fresh mint.
Just keeping adding more mint and cucumbers and of course water to the pitcher as it drains. Be creative!
